A geophysical survey was undertaken (20R0241) which informed the trench layout. Seventeen trenches were excavated by machine under archaeological supervision across the site proposed for a new community college at Mungret. Nothing of an archaeological nature was discovered and the geophysical anomalies were natural in origin. A metal detection survey (20R0261) of the trenches and spoil did not discover any archaeological objects.
