Jana Developments undertook the construction of 56 semi-detached two storey dwellings as part of residential estate development on the interface between suburban Limerick and the rural hinterland. The nearest known archaeological feature, LI013-025, a ringfort, is situated some 300m from the site.
Monitoring work commenced on 9 April 2018 and has taken place in three broad phases, in 2018, 2019 and 2020. To date the ground works for 24 houses has taken place and the licence has been extended to cover the remainder.
The ground works have entailed foundation excavation within a brown field site zone. The dimensions of the trenches varied between 1m and 1.6m wide, and 0.6-1.2m in depth. The stratigraphy consisted of minimal topsoil overlying pale yellow grey glacial till. No archelogy was encountered during this phase of works.

The development continued in to 2019, from 23 July to 21 October, in three scheduled phases. In all, 45,000m² were topsoil stripped to accommodate the foundation trench excavation for 20 houses. The depth of the trenches was between 0.6m and 1m and their widths were 1-1.6m. No archaeology was revealed in the underlying boulder clay.

The concluding 2020 tranche of the groundwork, prior to construction of the remaining 12 houses, commenced on 23 January and was completed on 13 August 2020. These were all located in the western aspect of the site. Similar to phases 1 and 2 the trenches were between 0.6m and 1m depth and their widths were 1m to 1.6m. No archaeology was revealed in the underlying boulder clay.
