Six trenches were excavated across the site in advance of development. The site was previously subject to a desk-based archaeological impact assessment and a geophysical survey, which informed the layout of the excavated test trenches. Two recorded monuments within the site were tested, which had been identified from aerial photography during preliminary works for the Limerick Southern Ring Road. Both monuments were proven to be non-antiquities, the anomalies illustrated in the geophysical survey proved to be natural features, and no archaeological features were noted during the testing.
