Monitoring of open-cut trenches for water main rehabilitation works in Adare town, along the Rathkeale Road (the N21) took place in February 2020. The northern part of the scheme lies within the RMP for the historic town of Adare, LI021-032. The works extended from south of the Blackabbey Road Junction on the N21 and terminated south of Embury Close, Adare. The material exposed in the section faces was a brown grey stony natural clay 0.35m over limestone bedrock. Frequent services were encountered along the length of the trench for power, water and communications. No artefacts or archaeological material was noted in the launch/receptor pits or the exposed section faces of the trenches.
