As part of Further Information for planning permission to build a dwelling house, driveway and associated site works at Killeen, Inistioge, Co. Kilkenny it was required that a programme of archaeological testing be undertaken due to the site being located within the confines of KK032-038, classified as a Church (site of). Although considered to be in the northern part of a pasture field, its exact location remains unknown. The area where the monument is most likely to be sited is in a small haggard upslope from an area now occupied by derelict structures/buildings which are inaccessible and very overgrown. In the 1980s the haggard became part of the larger field as exists currently. The house site and the associated site works will occupy the north-eastern part of the field but set back from the general location of where the monument is considered to be sited.

Four test trenches were opened, all of which were featureless. No evidence emerged in any trench that could be associated with the Church (site of).
