Monitoring of excavation work associated with the construction of a temporary prefabricated building at St John’s Junior School, Michael Street, Kilkenny took place between 9 and 11 December 2020, in compliance with Condition 6 of the grant of planning issued by Kilkenny County Council to the Board of Management, St John's Junior School, under Planning Ref. 20/248.
A disturbed deposit of animal bone, likely to represent a waste pit associated with the primary butchery of cattle and sheep, was identified in one foundation trench.
No further finds, features or deposits of archaeological significance was revealed.
