An archaeological assessment was carried out as part of a Request for Further Information for a single residential development in Clonfert South, County Kildare.
The development site was located within the zone of archaeological potential of an enclosure (KD010-003) identified from aerial photography taken in 1968.
A geo-physical survey (Licence No. 20R0211) was carried out in October 2020 and identified potential sub-surface anomalies but no definitive features associated with the enclosure site. The follow-up test excavation found evidence for a pit, two possible post-holes and two linear features within the footprint of the proposed development. The development did not proceed and was moved to a more suitable location.
