Monitoring revealed that the natural clay level lies at between 1.2-1.9m below present ground. It slopes from east to west with a drop in level of up to 0.7m over a distance of 60m (excavation area). A deep deposit of soft brown topsoil was found lying above the natural level. There was made-up ground lying above this topsoil level which is from soil being deposited here from previous excavations (when the car dismantlers' yard was originally constructed). There was a lot stone inclusions in this natural clay.
In conclusion, an area measuring 60m x 60m was archaeologically monitored and no archaeological features of finds were identified.
There are no further archaeological recommendations.
