Six archaeological test trenches, totalling 375m in length, were excavated within a land parcel off Parson Street, Maynooth, County Kildare. Potential archaeological features were uncovered in five of the six excavated test trenches. In summary, these potential archaeological features consisted of 17 linear features, some of which contained probable late medieval pottery sherds, and which appeared to comprise of drainage or ditch-type features. Two potential post-medieval deposits and one potential pit-type feature of unknown date were also uncovered within the site. All excavated soil was scanned by metal detector (Detection Licence 20R0090 ); a ferrous axe-head of unknown date was recovered from the topsoil matrix during this survey. The axe-head and probable medieval ceramics have been retain for further analysis.
