Archaeological testing was carried out between 24 February and 3 March 2020, in association with the alteration of an existing Applegreen Distribution Centre at a location south of the Maynooth Road (R148), Collinstown, Leixlip, Co. Kildare, and in compliance with Condition 17 of the grant of planning from Kildare County Council (Planning Ref. 19/972).

Testing comprised the excavation of 38 pits measuring between 1.5-3.8m in width and 2.2-3.8m in length, with a depth of 0.6-1.2m. Test pit locations corresponded to planned concrete foundation pad locations.

The stratigraphy within the test pits comprised modern aggregate layers to a depth of between 0.12m and 0.75m, generally overlying a compact clay with frequent inclusions of stone. Some brick was included in the underlying deposits and predominantly this material was interpreted to be imported.

No features, deposits or finds of archaeological interest were identified.
