A total of six test-trenches were excavated using a 16-ton tracked excavator with a 2m grading bucket to excavate the trenches. Excavation proceeded in level spits of 0.2m. Each trench was inspected for archaeological remains and all trenches were reinstated on completion. Subsoil comprised mixed grey/brown clay with extensive sand and gravel areas. Topsoil varied from 0.05-0.4m in thickness. No features, structures or objects of archaeological significance were identified during the course of the test-excavation.
