Archaeological testing was undertaken in the middle of December 2020. The proposed development site comprises of steeply sloping land that forms the terminal slopes of Brickany Mountain on the southern side of the Dingle Peninsula. The zone of notification of ringfort KE045-087 partially extends within the western limits of the site. Testing comprised of the excavation of 25 test trenches, T1–T25, extending for c.1500m. Trenches were opened across the totality of the site with a 16-tonne machine using 1.8m-wide grading bucket. Topsoil cover varied in depth from a maximum of 0.5m on the plateau area in the north-west to a more general 0.3–0.4m depth on the slopes. Topsoil overlay frequent broken green and pink coloured sandstones with the occasional small boulder. Nothing of archaeological interest was noted during testing.
