Pre-development testing was carried out on the site of a proposed new dwelling house at Ballynacloghy, Co. Galway on 27 May 2020. The development site lies within the area of archaeological constraint for GA102-020 (Gallows), which local tradition records as being located within the field containing the development site. Three test trenches were opened across the footprint of the development. The stratigraphy comprised 0.3m of grey/brown silt topsoil over 0.2m of light yellow/brown clay subsoil over grey silty sand and gravel. No archaeology was found.
