Archaeological monitoring was recommended as a condition of planning for upgrade works to the existing sewerage scheme in the villages of Claregalway and Milltown. The removal of topsoil along wayleaves prior to the installation of new sections of pipeline in greenfield areas to the west of both villages was carried out under full archaeological supervision. No features or finds of archaeological significance were uncovered in any of the excavated areas.
