Archaeological monitoring for the Tuam Regional Water Supply Scheme was carried out on a phased basis from July 2018 to February 2020. The installation work was carried out by the contractors using mostly open-cut trenches along the R446, Old Dublin Road, Co. Galway. As recommended in the original assessment, monitoring was carried out within the ‘zones of notifications’ for two recorded monuments and four other areas of archaeological potential at Frenchfort near GA095-168 Fulacht fia, at Oranbeg south of GA095-101---- a ring barrow, at Derrydonnell Beg north of Shanclog Castle (GA095-025— GA095-025001), Craughwell town, Cappanraheen near GA104-276 a 18th/19th-century House and at Seefin near GA104-269, GA104-269001- & GA104-269002- a cashel, souterrain and house site. Elsewhere intermittent inspections took place along the route. Throughout the course of the works no archaeological features or deposits were identified in any of the observed locations.
