Archaeological monitoring of groundworks was undertaken at Scholarstown Road, Knocklyon, Dublin 16. The development area is an approx. 5.35ha greenfield site in a suburban setting. Pre-development archaeological testing (18E0458) revealed the presence of a settlement/cemetery radiocarbon dated to the mid-7th/mid-8th century AD.
Monitoring commenced in December 2020 and to date, has concentrated on SI trenches and the proposed roads network. No new sites, features, objects or material of archaeological significance have been recorded.
Work will continue in 2021.
