Construction works within the development area were nearing completion and the developer was required, under the relevant Planning Permission, to leave RMP DU012-071 (enclosure), which lies partially within the development area, as open space. To do this, the client removed weeds that had grown on the surface of the monument, loosened the existing topsoil and reseeded the topsoil. The removal of weeds and loosening of topsoil was carried out by a mini-digger fitted with a flat grading bucket under constant archaeological supervision.
No archaeological features or artefacts were revealed during monitoring of groundworks.
