Archaeological monitoring of the ground-works for a commercial development took place in fulfilment of a condition of planning permission. The site of c. 1.3ha had been subject to earlier construction activity including the presence of a temporary car-park and the storage of construction materials. As a result the archaeological potential of the site was significantly reduced. The monitoring of the groundworks took place on an intermittent basis in accordance with the construction schedule from 22 July – 27 August 2020. No archaeological features, deposits or artefacts were identified during the monitoring of the groundworks and no further archaeological works are recommended.
