Archaeological monitoring of the ground-works for a commercial development took place in fulfilment of a condition of planning permission. The site of c. 1.3ha had been subject to earlier construction activity including the presence of a temporary car-park and the storage of construction materials. As a result the archaeological potential of the site was significantly reduced.
The monitoring of the groundworks took place on an intermittent basis in accordance with the construction schedule from 22 July –27 August 2020. No archaeological features, deposits or artefacts were identified during the monitoring of the groundworks and no further archaeological works are recommended.
