Archaeological monitoring of the excavation of service trenches within an existing 1920's ESB transformer station on Bedford Row in Dublin City was carried out to comply with planning conditions. The subject site is within the designated Zone of Notification for Dublin city (DU018-020) and is also within the Zone of Archaeological Interest published in the Dublin City Development Plan 2016-2022. Monitoring revealed stone infill material with modern inclusions which was present to the base of excavation and was associated with the initial construction of the transformer station and later redevelopment works. Nothing of archaeological significance was encountered.
