A programme of archaeological test trenching was carried out at Blackcourt Road, Corduff, Blanchardstown, Co. Dublin using a 14-tonne excavator. A total of 5 test trenches were excavated. Each trench measured 1.8m in width, in total 124m of linear meters were excavated. In general, the sod and topsoil measured on average between 0.26-0.6m in thickness and lay above compact greyish-brown silty clay subsoil which measured between c. 0.2-0.8m. The natural was exposed at a depth of c. 0.44-1.31m.
Modern disturbances (cables, pits etc.) were exposed in Trenches 1, 2 and 3. Within Trench 4 a number of modern wall foundations were identified; these appear to be demolished down to the natural.
