Between 15 October and 9 November 2020 licensed monitoring of water mains rehabilitation work was undertaken along local roads L5073 and L50731, located in the townlands of Clonrobin and Drominagore, between Kanturk and Kilbrin, in north Co. Cork.
Excavations were carried out in proximity to four recorded monuments, enclosure (CO023-314), vernacular House (CO023-267), burial ground (CO023-024) and vernacular house (C0023-328), with the mains trench traversing the Zones of Archaeological Potential/Zones of Notification for each of these monuments. Archaeological monitoring was confined to mains trench excavation in the respective Zones of Archaeological Potential/Zones of Notification.
No features, finds or deposits associated with the aforementioned monuments, or with hitherto unknown archaeological activity, was revealed in the course of monitoring.
