Testing was undertaken at a proposed development site in Castletreasure townland Douglas, Cork. The testing programme sought to investigate a number of areas of limited archaeological potential identified during a programme of geophysical survey (20R0043). During the testing programme a pair of possible post-holes were revealed at the eastern end of Trench 17, a hearth was revealed at the northern end of Trench 19 and a possible pit was revealed at the centre of Trench 20. No archaeological features or artefacts were noted in any of the other test trenches excavated on the footprint of the proposed development. Topsoil from all trenches was subjected to metal detection survey (20R0087), and aside from modern metal waste and a 1963 penny, no finds were recovered during this survey.
In parallel with the programme of archaeological testing a licensed metal detection and visual survey of a stream crossing in the northern portion of the site was carried out (20D0019). The survey did not result in the identification of any features or finds of an archaeological nature within the stream or its vicinity.
