The western half of the site comprises an area of recently felled forestry and an area of standing trees. Due to the significant ground disturbance and existing forestry, much of this portion of the site was not suitable for archaeological testing. The eastern portion of the site comprises a large open field (c.2.5ha) which slopes moderately to the south. The eastern portion of the site was subjected to detailed gradiometer survey (19R0267) in December 2019.

There were no definitive patterns of an archaeological character evident within the geophysical survey results and numerous small-scale ferrous responses were evident throughout. A series of responses, including an apparent L-shaped linear feature, were noted towards the south-east corner of the surveyed area. These features were investigated as part of this programme of archaeological testing.

Eight test trenches, totalling 405m in length, were excavated across the proposed development site over a two-day period in February 2020. Nothing of an archaeological nature was uncovered during the testing programme.
