Archaeological testing of the site of a proposed new dwelling at Main Street, Quin, Co. Clare close to CL042-027 (deserted medieval settlement) in 2019 revealed modern building rubble over disturbed soil (19E0510; 2019:340). Sherds of medieval pottery and animal bone were recovered from this soil, although no archaeological features were observed.
Monitoring of the site preparation works in 2020 (under an extension to licence 19E0510) confirmed the presence of a disturbed soil that included redeposited medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds, animal bone and clay tobacco pipe, lying above natural bedrock.
No further archaeological work is recommended.
