Monitoring of groundworks for an extension to Mercy Convent Primary School, John’s Street, Killaloe, Co. Clare, within the bounds of the historic town (CL045-033) and in Shantraud townland, encountered nothing of archaeological significance. Groundworks were shallow and natural deposits were rarely reached, so it cannot be stated whether or not archaeological deposits exist on the site, although none were impacted by the development.
