Outbuildings earmarked for refurbishment around the Upper Yard at Borris House, Co. Carlow, were inspected in September 2019. The yard was built sometime in the 19th century, and may incorporate part of an earlier building at the end of the west range, but the earlier building is unlikely to predate the late 18th century. No reused early masonry was seen, and nothing of archaeological interest was observed in a recent trench cut beside the west range.
Cutting a new drain outside the north range of the Upper Yard intercepted a pre-19th-century field boundary, but nothing else predating the ranges around the yard. Nothing of archaeological interest was found when a concrete floor in the north range was removed.
