The archaeological monitoring of the Phase 3 works took place on 17 August 2020 and consisted of a walk-over of the proposed development area, located in the north-east corner of the quarry. As with the previous phases, much of the area had been previously disturbed. In the case of the Phase 3 works, topsoil stripping and embanking of spoil had taken place in this area in the 1970s (pers. comm. quarry rep.) Exposed bedrock was visible across the area, with no indication of any surviving in-situ original soil profiles. Consequently due to the level and depth of stripping allied to the fact that the area has been exposed to the elements for some 50 years, it is highly unlikely that any archaeological deposits survive within the Phase 3 works area.
