Twenty-seven trenches were excavated across the area of the proposed development. The total area tested amounted to 1026 sq. metres, or 570 linear metres. A pit feature was identified in Trench 6. This measured 1.8m east-west by 1.3m. it appears to be steep sided, so may be up to 1m deep. A circular feature was identified in the geophysical survey in Trench 7. The test trench shows that this is a probable house site, 2.7m east-west internal diameter, with slot trenches at east and west. The fills of the slot trenches consist of a dark silt, with frequent charcoal flecking. A sub-circular pit (0.5m east-west by 0.45m) is located 0.25m to the east of the structure. It is likely that this is the remains of a small Bronze Age round house.
