Monitoring took place on 31 October 2019 at a tree plantation at Ballyconboy, Co. Roscommon. The development consisted of the construction of a forestry access road for the purpose of felling mature trees. The forestry access road was 190m in length and constructed by layering deposits of gravel over a brush mat of branches above the original ground level. The grass-covered sod and topsoil at the entrance, directly adjacent to the road, was mechanically removed. A drain was excavated in an east to west alignment across the forestry access road. The stratigraphy consisted of 0.4m of dark brown clayey silt topsoil over a grey boulder clay with occasional occurrences of small to medium sized stones. No archaeological material was noted during monitoring works at Ballyconboy.
