Development involved construction of a 6.43km long underground grid connection from the Mayo/Sligo border to an existing substation at Bunnyconnellan East townland, County Mayo. The grid connection was generally installed along the public roadway. Development involved the mechanical excavation of a trench which was on average 1.2m deep x 0.4m wide.
With the exception of a small stretch at the southern end, excavation was within the existing carriageway and in all cases revealed modern road surface sealing peat or undisturbed natural geology.
No archaeological features or artefacts were revealed as a result of carrying out the monitoring.
