Four archaeological sites (Areas 1–4) were excavated in advance of construction. The sites had been identified during an earlier programme of test trenching undertaken under licence 18E0088 (2018:656). Area 1 consisted of an isolated cremation pit, likely to be a Bronze Age or Iron Age feature. Area 2 consisted of the remains of a burnt mound, a prehistoric site-type with a wide date span, but primarily Bronze Age in date. Several pits were also identified in Area 2, some of which contained cremated animal bone. Area 3 consisted of two pits, one of which produced a sherd of prehistoric pottery. Area 4 also consisted of two pits, but no artefacts were recovered during the excavation.
