Testing was undertaken on the site of a proposed Port storage area at Greenore Port, County Louth on 23 and 24 April 2019. The testing programme uncovered a large modern infill deposit within the eastern portion of the site (close to the location of flint scatter LH009-012). The deposit contained demolition rubble (concrete, iron rods, red brick, coal and plastic) within a matrix of loosely compacted dark grey sandy silt. An 8m long segment of the northern portion of Trench 6 was excavated through modern fill to a depth of 2m whereupon it was closed due to the risk of trench collapse. The deposit of modern fill was also found in a 2m by 3m test pit excavated at the southern end of Trench 6 and the eastern halves of Trenches 3 and 4. As a result Trenches 3 and 4 were shortened by 27m and 35m respectively. A total of six test trenches were excavated on the site totaling 524m². A small number of possible worked flints were found during a scan and sieving of topsoil from Trenches 1, 3, 4 and 5.
