The archaeological assessment was carried out from 11–15 February 2019. Prior to the archaeological assessment a geophysical survey was conducted by Donald Murphy and Robert Breen of ACSU between 17 and 28 January 2019 under licence 18R0254.
A total of 45 test trenches were excavated in the areas to be disturbed by the proposed development. The sod and topsoil (C01) measured an average of 0.53m in thickness and lay above the natural orange sandy clay, gravels and decayed stone (C02). No archaeological features or deposits were exposed or identified and no finds were recovered.
