Monitoring was carried out of engineering/geotechnical site investigations at Timahoe South Bog, Co. Kildare. Sixty trial pits were excavated within the site. No features which could be positively identified as archaeological ‘sites’ were noted within the trial pits.
Minor manual investigation of two timbers was undertaken in Trial Pits 7 and 13. No tool marks or joint fixings were noted and manual cleaning revealed that the timbers were isolated and not associated with any other nearby timbers within the confines of the trial pits. Both exposed timbers were however preserved in situ. No other associated timbers or structures were identified in these locations and within the confines of the geotechnical trial pits the timbers appeared to occur in isolation rather than part of a larger structure.
