Archaeological testing of a proposed development site at Ardmoneel townland was requested by Kerry County Council as Further Information. Nine trenches were excavated within the site at regular intervals. The trenches were excavated 10m apart. The stratigraphy was consistent within the excavated trenches with the upper two thirds of the site at the north-east consisting of a topsoil overlying a bright orange natural. The lower south-western end consisted of topsoil overlying a more mottled beige sandy natural. Land drains were evident throughout the site and evidence for cultivation activity in the form of narrow furrows was also present. No archaeological finds, features or deposits were encountered within the excavated trenches.
