Testing was undertaken in November 2019 with regards to a planning application to construct a single dwelling house at Coolcorcoran, Co. Kerry. The site is partially situated within the zone of notification of a ringfort, KE066-118. Three east-west orientated test trenches (T1–T3) were excavated across the northern part of the site on the footprint of the proposed dwelling. The trenches extended for c.78m and were opened using a back-acting mini-digger with a 1.6m wide flat grading bucket. Nothing of archaeological interest was noted in any of the three test trenches.
