Testing was undertaken with regard to a planning application to construct a single house at Knockearagh, c.4.0km east of Killarney, Co. Kerry. The Zones of Notification of a ringfort, KE067-103 and the souterrain KE067-102, extend into the eastern limits of the Proposed Development Site. Eight test trenches (T1-T8), with a total meterage of c.540m, were opened by a mechanical back-acting, 14-ton track machine using a 1.8m wide flat grading bucket. Nothing of archaeological interest was noted in any of the trenches.
