Archaeological pre-development testing was carried out at the site of a proposed development at Drumacoo townland, Ballinderreen, Co. Galway, following a Further Information Request by Galway County Council.
The development site, comprising a ruined vernacular house, is located within the Zone of Notification for GA103-118, ecclesiastical remains. The monuments at the site include Drumacoo Church, National Monument No. 254, which is an important multi-period church. Four trenches were mechanically excavated through the proposed extension to the rear of the vernacular house on 10 June, 2019. No features of archaeological interest were discovered within the site of the proposed development during the testing programme and there were no finds of archaeological significance discovered during the works.
