The archaeological assessment was carried out by Deirdre Murphy and Linda Clarke on 15–16 October 2019 and involved the excavation of eight trenches across the site in the areas to be disturbed by the proposed development. The site of the proposed development lies approximately 100m west north-west of DU015-069001, classified as a Church.
The subsoil was exposed in all trenches and there was no evidence of any archaeological features or deposits. Finds were all modern in date and of no archaeological significance.
The property along the northern boundary of the site was not accessible at the time of testing and consequently these three trenches were not excavated. However, it should be noted that this site was extensively tested by Ellen O’Carroll in 2008 under licence 08E0119 and no archaeology was encountered.
