The development site was located at 21–23 Arbour Place, Stoneybatter, Dublin 7. Monitoring was carried out in the yard to the south-east and north-east of No. 23 Arbour Place (this building is being retained), and in the area where sheds stood within this yard (these were demolished during this programme of monitoring). The site is located on the boundary of the zone of archaeological interest for Dublin City, as defined in the Dublin City Development Plan 2016–2022.

The work consisted of archaeologically monitoring all areas that were disturbed by construction works, as well as monitoring of all demolition and sub-surface works, including the breaking and removal of floor slabs, levelling of ground, etc., as per the requirements of the Dublin City Council City Archaeologist. The work commenced with the monitoring of four trial pits. The work was undertaken between late May and early July 2019.

A substantial post-medieval/modern demolition layer was encountered throughout the site. No archaeological features, deposits or artefacts were exposed.
