In compliance with Planning Ref: ABP-303691-19, the removal of the site’s topsoil/overburden was archaeologically monitored from the 11–20 November 2019, following on from the demolition of the preexisting structures on site. The topsoil varied in depth from 0.25–0.47m in depth and it was a mid-dark brown silty clay. The underlying subsoil was a yellowy brown silty clay and although traces of modern land improvements such as drains were present, nothing of archaeological significance was noted as being present on the development site.
