Archaeological monitoring of groundworks associated with the redevelopment of Ryan's Bar was carried out intermittently between 21 August 2018 and 3 April 2019 at 91–92 Camden Street Lower and 1–3 Camden Row, Dublin 2. The work was undertaken by Mark Andrews and Paul Duffy of IAC Ltd in response to planning conditions attached to the development by Dublin City Council (Planning Ref.: 2653/17).

A recorded monument, a house of indeterminate date (DU018-020647), is present within the development area, at No. 91 Camden Street.

Some structural foundations relating to the upstanding buildings were identified in a number of areas within the development area. These were surrounded by extensive deposits of post-medieval demolition material containing red brick, limestone, animal bone and shell inclusions. A corner fireplace was identified within No. 3 Camden Row, indicating that the structure had been adapted from an earlier 18th-century ‘Dutch Billy’ structure.

The corner fireplace was retained and no other archaeological features were identified. No further mitigation is deemed necessary in relation to the development.
