A cultural heritage assessment and subsequent archaeological testing of a proposed Strategic Housing Development at Toberburr and Killeek townlands and the existing Rivermeade Estate in north Co. Dublin was commissioned.
The nearest known archaeological site is a road/trackway (DU011-128----) situated c. 200m to the north-west.
Nineteen trenches were excavated with a backhoe digger fitted with a 1.5m toothless, ditching bucket. In general, the stratigraphy comprised a dark-brown, silty clay topsoil overlying a compact mid-brown natural clay with patches of orange to yellowish silty clays. The plough soil averaged 0.3m with a maximum depth of 0.5m in places. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted during archaeological testing.
