Archaeological monitoring was carried out at the site of a proposed residential development at the former Ormond Printworks, Ratoath Road, Dublin 11. The nearest Recorded Monument to the site (DU014-095—burial ground) is located c. 0.3km to the north-west and will not be directly affected by the proposed development.
Monitoring in the southern part of the site was undertaken in November 2019. All demolition and sub-surface works associated with the development were monitored, including the breaking and removal of floor slabs and levelling of the grounds. This investigation exposed no archaeological features. The work in the southern part of the site is now complete. The northern part of the site, which remains under grass, will require further archaeological assessment in advance of any groundworks.
