Planning permission was granted for the development of a residential care home and associated works on lands at Dunsinea Lane, Rathborne, Ashtown, Dublin 15. Test trenching and monitoring of topsoil stripping took place on 9 April 2019.

The evaluation consisted of topsoil monitoring and the testing of the entire development area via sixteen machine-dug archaeological test trenches, 2m in width and set 10m apart. In addition the topsoil strip associated with a proposed works car park at the west end of the site was monitored, and apart from a series of agricultural stone-filled drainage gullies, nothing of archaeological interest was noted. The lack of archaeological features was reflected in the range of finds noted from within topsoil contexts, which consisted of 19th- and 20th-century pottery, red brick and various corroded iron agricultural items.
