A test excavation took place at a proposed school development site straddling the former townland boundary between Kilsaley and Broomfield, Malahide, Fingal, Co. Dublin on 25/26 September 2019. There are no recorded archaeological monuments within the site’s perimeter however recent archaeological work, within the wider area of the field, including a geophysical survey, artefact collection survey, testing and a review of aerial imagery, confirmed the presence of a burnt pit and some lithic material and two enclosures (DU012-071-- and DU012-033--). Testing involved the excavation of 9 trenches with a cumulative length of 810m. Ground works exposed a loosely compact plough soil over natural boulder clay cut with occasional field drains. No archaeological finds or features were noted in the trenches.
