Testing was undertaken comprising the excavation of a total of four linear test trenches. Test Trenches 1 & 2 proved that this area (eastern portion of the site) had been previously disturbed, probably being benched at the time of the construction of the Dongeal Town By-pass. The western portion of the site was also disturbed, having been levelled with fill material at some point in the recent past. Test Trench 3 was abandoned (after 30m) as it became deeper towards the south-south-west (in excess of 2m). Excavation continued further to the south-south-east along the same alignment, though deposits were equally deep and this portion of the trench (3B) was abandoned after 7m in length was excavated.
No archaeological features, finds or deposits were found during the testing programme.
