Monitoring of ground reduction for a proposed quarry extension at lands 100m south of 12 Tullybrick Road, Phase 1, was carried out during January and February 2019 in response to the condition that archaeological surveillance of topsoil stripping and site preparation and for the recording of archaeological remains is carried out, as agreed in writing with the department.
Monitoring of ground reduction of Phase 1, revealed that topsoil overlaid peat and then onto a mixed orange/grey clayey sand across the Phase 1 area.
No archaeological features were identified during monitoring of ground reduction and as such it is recommended that no further archaeological works are required in relation to Road Phase 1 extension.
