Monitoring of ground works associated with a permitted development at Ballinamought, Montenotte, Cork City was undertaken in January and February 2019 on foot of a planning condition relating to the development. No archaeological finds, features or deposits were uncovered during the monitoring. Post-medieval features including a partially preserved drain in the south-eastern part of the site and a yellow brick vaulted cellar 5m east of Arbutus Lodge; these were recorded and subject to a measured and photographic survey. The majority of the cellar (side and rear walls) was preserved in situ, although given its location beneath the new access road the yellow brick roof was removed for health and safety reasons. The features are likely to date to the original house construction in the late 18th/early 19th century.
