Monitoring took place as a second phase of works associated with a proposed forestry plantation. The first phase of testing at Ballon was completed in May 2018 under the same licence. Monitoring of all drainage trenching works was undertaken within the townlands of Ballon, Ballinvally & Ballykealey. A network of drains, with an average depth of 0.4m, was excavated by a back-acting track machine using 0.3m width and āVā shaped trapezoidal bucket. Some finds including two small flints, clay pipe stem fragments and modern ceramics were recovered from topsoil. No new archaeological sites, features or deposits were revealed during the monitoring.
